The Jakob’s Room Project has had amazing global interest. With the unfolding of
my vision, we have realized that my desire to bring this need to our nation, to
our world, will be best accomplished by holding hands with the many support
organizations already in existence, as well as, extending a larger light to
educate a society.
Jakob’s Room…Celebrating a Life Loved, the book, is currently being reviewed for
publication. Broken Womb, the documentary, is in development with Santoki
Productions, San Francisco. It is our hope, that the book and documentary will
be used, as a made for television movie reaching a national audience. In
addition, as a training tool for all professional organizations that have the
opportunity to leave a compassionate care imprint on a loved one’s life.
“Saying good-bye takes time. Give the bereaved adequate private time to be with,
touch, caress and hold the body, as time with the deceased may be very critical
in helping them finish unfinished business and accept the reality of loss. Those
who did not view the body or had arranged for immediate disposition of the
remains (excluding the normal Jewish custom of not viewing the body) reported
the greatest hostility following the death, the greatest increase in consumption
of alcohol, tranquilizers and sedatives, the greatest increase in tension and
anxiety, the lowest positive recall of the deceased and greater problems in
adjustment to the death, particularly among male respondents.”
